Since 2013 Diversity Landworks has been providing land management services for private, public and non-profit lands in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. Based in Southeastern Minnesota, our work has focused on native ecosystem support in prairies, savannas, hard and softwood forests. While implementing conventional invasive species management practices, innovation has been our focus to address root issues of ecosystem degradation.
Our primary focus is prescribed grazing as a management tool. We have developed the Best Management Practices for utilizing prescribed grazing for buckthorn control and removal. Other services including manual, mechanical, prescribed fire and herbicide techniques are used as supplementary support for prescribed grazing.
Ecosystems are complicated- therefore we utilize a diversity of tactics to address the many factors causing imbalance in the ecosystem.
Our core understanding is that land without management is a neglected landscape. Humans have almost always played a role in providing a guiding hand in ecological homeostasis. For thousands of years, humans' tools of choice were Fire and Grazing. We take care to learn from these ways and provide these services based on historical practices.
